A short club history
Warminster Camera Club was formed in 1978 following a very good response to an advertisement in the local press placed by local professional photographer, David Wiltshire.
Shortly after formation, the club became affiliated to the Western Counties Photographic Federation of which it is still a member.
In 1990 it was a founder member, along with twelve other clubs, of the Multi Club Photographic Group. Although the Multi Club no longer exists a number of competitions, originally run by the Multi Club are still supported by the original members.
2003 was our 25th Anniversary and in May the club website was started. We were fortunate to get a Lottery grant towards our digital imaging equipment.
At our 30th Anniversary in 2008 we produced for the local library (and for the second time) a photographic record of all the major streets in Warminster.
Future plans will include, in addition to competitions etc., informal instructional evenings covering the basics of photography and digital techniques. Approaches will be made to local schools with the object of forging a link with the younger generation. The club welcomes all those interested in photography irrespective of their experience or the techniques that they use.
